Learning to Learn  Paul Taylor, 18 May 2017

“Technology companies also have an important role to play in addressing these challenges in conjunction with their partners by facilitating lifelong learning and retraining programs, and helping their customers address some of the challenges identified by the United Nations Sustainability goals, including facilitating decent paid work and economic growth. A key element in that achieving those objectives will be helping people learn how to learn.”

Please Don’t Make an Online Course  Mark Lassoff, 18 May 2017

“In my analysis, courses have become a commodity. Ask most new instructors what makes their HTML course different, they’ll tell you it’s the “quality of instruction,” or “their communication skills.” I’m going to call bullshit. Because I used to say the same thing. Your courses are the pretty much the same as everyone else’s. And so were mine.”

At Cisco, We’re Trying To Create Our Own ‘Gig Economy’ For Employees  Jill Larsen, 19 May 2017

Companies should think about this new version of flexibility. By supplying employees with the right technology and resources, you’re giving them the ability to work how, when, and where they want. As an example, we’re using our tools (like IP phones, WebEx, TelePresence, and Virtual Office) for employees to collaborate, and to work remotely. This isn’t just about creating a workplace in the comfort of their own home or the local coffee shop, but rather getting the most out of people based on where and when they best work, per studies like the one above.
