Example 1: A Language Resource Centre

<< 20 – FROM CREATION TO CURATION

Needs: A team is looking for some links to free external resources on how to learn French.  They want a variety of different types and formats –  not just courses but videos, podcasts and other resources – to suit their differing learning preferences.

Format: The most appropriate format in this case is to provide a list of resources in a web page with active hyperlinks, together with brief descriptions to provide some guidance as what each link contains and its format, so that it is easy for an individual to spot what will work for them.

Selection: Once a list of suitable resources has been gathered from a Web search, duplicates are filtered out, and the list is whittled down to a useful number of high quality resources. The list is then updated from time to time with new finds and recommendations from colleagues.
