When I show these results of the 12th<\/sup> annual Learning in Workplace survey to groups of L&D people, their reaction is to say \u201cwe need to do better; we need to create more appealing and more engaging training<\/em>\u201d. My answer to that is, that isn\u2019t what the results are telling me! In my experience people don\u2019t want prettier or more interactive courses they want more relevant solutions to their problems.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, organizations need workers to be self-sufficient lifelong learners too \u2013 that is people who are constantly discovering new things – new ideas, new thinking, new resources – and bring what they learn into the organisation, so that others can benefit from them too. In fact, this is the only way to build a true \u201clearning culture\u201c or \u201clearning organisation\u201d – otherwise you simply have a training culture.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
